I suppose it's the US one? I mean, I can't pick Europe. I would take this 'advice' from Sony with a grain of salt: they simply want you to buy another notebook from them, of course. Replies: 0 Views: Fazg Sep 9, Dec 3, Reduce fan Speed Zorro! Everything is automated. Dear Peter, I have already fixed the problem. Somehow my sony firmware extension parser device was not installed at all, although I did run that installer a couple of times. I went to device manager and found 2 devices that were not installed.

I looked them up and found that the firmware extension parser device and the wireless state were not installed. I installed them manually by extracting the install files with universal extractor and by pointing windows to the infs.

Now everything works! SJ44K13, I'm happy to hear that you guys your Function keys to work though it is very weird that you had to break our package and point the to the files manually from device manager.

The only thing I can think of is that the PC didn't have the admin writes to read the registry therefore it couldn't installed the files because the package does a OS, Model series Check from the registry. Normally when this occurs then a simple right click run as admin would do the job. Thanks for your post. I will be on the look out for other customer who many encounter this issue. I installed those 3 packages in the right order.

And now I have FN keys working for audio only. Perhaps I have to look into the video card drivers too. Thanks SJ44K13 for your info. I followed the same way as you did, and managed to make the FN keys work. I used Universal Extractor using the WUN unpacker method and extracted the driver for vaio firmware extension parser device. Then I went to device manager where I had an unknown device and pointed to the vaio firmware p..

Then I unpacked using the same method the sony shared library and installed it. After the restart all FN keys were working. Now Vaio Control Center shows everything I need. Thanks to Peter too for showing me what files I need to take into consideration and the order I need to follow in installing them. I think I have the same problem, except that I don't see any download link for model: vpccw21fx. Thescorpionking, your model does not seem to be supported for windows 8.

Thescorpionking, I have the same laptop and I got to install a clean Windows 8 Pro x Hi, i'm having the same issue after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8. My model is vpcse27fx, I tried doing some of the steps mentioned in other posts, but so far i'm unable to make the keys work, only the volume key is working properly.

Can anyone give another sugestion? Sound FN keys work but Stamina and other hot keys don't. Try to install the same steps to get install a clean Windows 8 setup. The function key is not work properly after installation of Windows 8. Please help me on this issue thanks Chhun. I am trying to do so but it still doesn't work. I also try to contact customer service assistant from sony but they said nothing to do with functions key OS 8.

I could not find Current Hybrid Display Driver thanks. Tried those steps, but didn't work. We do not have Windows 8 drivers for that model. You need to have version 6 or higher. Does your Stamina - Speed button work? What is the driver version listed in device manager? Do you have the latest installed? Hi, have been following this thread.. I have loved this pc, but the last few days have been very frustrating..

What should i do? Wickwack, It is recommended that you perform an upgrade instead of clean installation per the instructions on Sony Support website and also in our FAQ section because some of the drivers from the Win7 carry over to Windows 8.

Regarding your issues: 1 Bluetooth - Can you check device manager to see if the driver is installed? Is there a yellow bang for Bluetooth? At the very least the Windows 8 InBox driver should of picked it up. Thanks for your reply PeterT. I dont see bluetooth anywhere. This i think should be solvable easily. Additional: Vaio Update doesnt seem to install, same for Smart Network, any clue to troubleshoot this?

Again thanks for your reply! PeterT, Sorry for the late reply. I was a little bit busy the last few days. I followed your instructions and got vaio update installed.

However i do not see a bluetooth tree in device manager, its almost as if the device wasnt there. I did install bluetooth from windows 7 drivers, no luck tho. Sony should be prepared for this kind of situation, they are no low-cost producer.

I upgraded to windows 8 pro clean update yesterdat but I am facing three major problems after that. My battery care function which I turned on in windows 7 is still on in windows 8. But there is no way to access that feature in windows 8.

I can't find the way to turn it off from Vaio control Center. My speed-stamina switchable graphics keys does not work. All my drivers are up to date. My function key works well for volume but does not work for brightness. I read previous posts in this section but could not find the sloution for my model number.

I hope to receive a solution soon. I would highly appreciate any help. Installed everything related to bluetooth but the adapter is not even showing up on devices. Vaio Smart Network never runs, VSNservice is set to start automatically delayed, however it never starts, attepting to start it gives error: 0x the class is configured to run as a security id different from the caller.

Not sure what to do about this.. I was about to go back to Windows 7 until I figured I should just try "everything" mentioned in this topic I had tried some solutions but not everything together.

EDIT: this also solves the battery care issue I think. Then continue with the installation. Restart your computer. This happened to my graphics update window but I just clicked where I thought the "next" buttons were and it worked.

Maybe this won't happen to you but just a warning in case it does. Also, sometimes then I start the computer in stamina mode, both graphic cards are on aka speed mode but switching to speed and then back to stamina solves this. I'm not sure if this will continue to happen or not.

You can check which graphic cards are running through "System Information" Finally, there is no brightness level on the screen when you adjust it with the FN keys but at least it works. Hopefully this works for you and let me know if I wasn't clear on anything. Good Luck. Please Help. Hi, Peter I followed these same steps for my pc, svs13a12fxs. I just installed, in this order: nvidia graphics intel graphics nvidia update firmwarre parser shared library hotkey utilities Was that order good for my model, too?

Thank you very much. Anybody could help me and I will appreciate. Pls help and provide your suggestion! Thanks, Kun. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks! I did a clean install of W8.

For the qualified models that Sony support for the Windows 8 Upgrade which is Spring cycle to Summer cycle See my Windows 8 Upgrade instruction thread for series list and all of those supported series has the Upgrade option. What specific model are you using? You can check the version. Peter, With svsx, I performed all your solution steps in order, the Fn key problem still persist. Could you please suggest as step by step that maybe I miss some steps.

Thank you. This is the solution that work well to me. I have tried everything mentioned in this forum. Also, I have uninstalled and re-installed several drivers many times. Please help me. HI Peter, The win8 upgrade journey so far, to say the least, has been frustrating. The Fn volume up and down keys work perfectly though. No yellow exclamation marks in the device manager.

Please please help me. My Vaio details are Hey this is frustrating. All this people having problems because Sony doesn't provide the adequate support, and all of us posting here and getting no response What do you think we should do, people? All, I am really sorry for the delay. I hope to complete this troubleshooter in about 2 hours from now. Please paste the log files onto this thread. Hope this helps you.

Sorry guys I beg to differ here And yes, thanks Peter for your efforts SS. Hi Peter. Really thanful for your help. I ran the troubleshooter, and discovered had no value in the firmware extension parser, which I found strange, because I had installed it as yu had advised me once. So, on the assumption I had missed that step, I did the reinstalation again: nvidia and intel videio drivers nvidia update shared libraries I had to restart pc here firmware extensions parser pc didn't ask me to restart, but did it anyways After that, nothing.

I rerun the troubleshooter, and saw again that that space is empty. Will I have a corrupted file? I'm attaching the log. Thanks again.

Tried to download and run the trouble shooter file again and still no values in the second third and fourth line.

We found your root cause there. Yes please follow my instructions and try to apply it to both unknown device.

Let me know your results. I'll be online most of today to wait for your results. Now there is the human devices! Looks like that solved the issue, thanks! But there is another yellow exclamation, something I have not installed.

I tried to apply the same driver, but windows did not recognize it. I'm going to restart, and let you know if everything is working. So it worked! I'm so thankful, you're really good at this! I'm glad I created that troubleshooter last night. Helps to dissect the issue must faster. No yellow signs for me now. It has been a pleasure for me to be assisted for such a gentle and concerned representative. You have made me confident about Sony costumer support.

I'm happy everything worked out and I'm really sorry for the delay in my response. I've been on business travel for multiple locations. Don't hesitate to come back to Sony Community if you have any additional questions. We'll be here waiting for you. Hi Peter, That was brilliant. The drivers on the Sony website are not meant for M. I've broken out the SFEP package and provided you with the raw files. See attachment 1. However, after installation of the Vaio Control Center I checked the vaio folder in Programs folder it does not show there?

Why is that??? And also the two fingure trackpad gesture to move the apps on the start screen don't work Please help SS. Hi Peter, I already did that, whch is why my Fn keys work. Ratawit, It was my understanding that your issue was already resolve for the function keys and switch. Is this correct? My assumption was base on another post that you have inputted. I would recommend that it should be version 6 or higher. I followed your guide and there is no unknown device.

I installed the new version, still nothing works. I dont have that option in my vaio control center, there is just one option: set resolution of the external display. I mentioned you have mouse and keyboard options in your vaio control panel, I dont have them either.

Mehdi, Can you try to install the shared library? EXE Make sure to restart after you install it. Peter, Thanks a lot for your instruction, Everything works perfect now! Hi Peter, I did restart and still nothing changes. Another problem that I faces after SFEP is that, once I increase the brightness using the Fn key, within seconds the brightness dims again and is not affected by cursor motion.

I have a doubt regarding the Display driver. My vaio has a M radeon, while the driver available for this model of laptop on Sony support is I think. Hello Peter, I read through this thread and downloaded and installed various bits, but no luck with the F keys or Stamina or assist or Vaio buttons. I would greatly appreciate your help. Here are some details. I can't find any specific to my laptop.

Many thanks, Martin. Martin, did you try the following steps yet? Please perform the following steps: 1. Peter, Thank you for the solution. But my primary problem still remians. My device manager has no Yellow exclamations or unknown devices. Morning Peter, Many thanks for your prompt reply. I did as you told me and that solved a piece of the puzzle.

I followed Peter's instructions to install 'Shared library' and it worked. Now two concerns remain 1. Bluetooth 2. The 'Assist' key doesnot work? Peter can u help please. Richard, I have this Meant to say Peter, sorry, and thanks! Hi Shortguy, Check post and by Peter in this thread, these are repsonses to problem similar to yours. I think you dont have the Sony Extension Parser file installed. The above mentioned posts have a Peter's skydrive link to the Parser file.

You can try downloading and installing it. Make sure you create a restore point before installing it so that you can roll back if need be. Hi, Thanks for the response! I got it to work, however, the brightness indicator bar still does not appear i can adjust brightness, I just can't "see" the bar telling me where it is Thanks much, Jon.

Shortguy Your log file looks exactly the same as mine except the parser thingy is different. Did you restart after installation? Reinstalling adobe acrobat with a valid key shouldnt be a problem I just want to see the bar! Yeah your parser seems to be the most updated one, only Peter can vindicate this. I really cant tell why the bar is missing. The most common use of bluetooth is to connect your laptop to a mobile phone or a bluetooth mouse. Go to the charm bar, settings, change PC settings at the bottom , Wireless May be you dont have the bluetooth drivers installed too How badly we need Peter to come back.

You're right, this is very frustrating I have no idea why my bluetooth drivers are not installed If you find out, please let me know.. I found the bluetooth drivers for my model on the sony product website. Installed them, and I can see the bluetooth icon which is disabled. Stuck there Good luck researching. Can you perform the below steps: Please perform the following steps: 1. Thank you very much Peter. EXE Note Make sure you have the latest. Furthermore you should install the Controls Driver 2.

My Wifi switch also doesn't. I'm looking for the drivers to use work since I re-installed the OS. So for some reason they just stopped working all of a sudden. I know it registers a a key press on function and i have tried everything to fix it.

I would like to create a desktop shortcut OR hotkey that will Thanks switch between them via desktop. Hello, I have that possible? Is there any option to switch the in Lenovo Settings app. Can you tell me. I am using how to fix this problem?

Function keys are Envy Msix touchsmart. I'm running with a all my programs and settings are restored but the Stamina-Speed switch does not work. Make function keys work as function keys on Ideapad P For instance, F1, F2, F3 get remapped fine; but My work around is to these programs don't see F7 which toggles flight mode.

Keys, I need brightness by default; to make them actually work as F1, F2, My Ideapad P function keys do things like changing volume and display to press Fn key.

Function Keys f1 - f12 are not working Function keys - F2 and F3 not working. I checked whether there was a software due to which it was happening, but,. I am really struggling I didn't install any kind of software which can harm the functioning of the keys. Function keys are not working hi Dim function keys not working keys don't always work.
